Great site - with some tips and lessons We visited 3 sets of Mayan ruins - Chichen Itza, Ek Ballam and Tulum and they were all completely different which was great. Chichen Itza is a temple site which is really well preserved/restored with the Ball Court being pretty overwhelming in scale! Some things to note when visiting: * Arrive early! Our guide took us to the best photo spots as soon as it opened at 8 and we were really glad to have the pics done before the heat/crowds kicked in. * Book a guide. There are some waiting at the entrance you can book when you arrive, but we pre-booked through Experiencias LakinTours on Viator and it was excellent. Great to have the insight from someone who knows it. * There are A LOT of market stalls both in and outside the site. I think more than I've seen at any other tourist site. This was a bit overwhelming for me, but generally they aren't pushy and if you say 'no thanks' they do just back off. Our tour guide gave us some tips on what to buy or not. The souvenirs were more expensive than I expected, but it was a once in a lifetime experience and so just went with it. If you're a good haggler, maybe it would be different, but I'm not unhappy with what we spent. * It is so incredibly hot! There are some areas of shade but they are often already full of people. Take an umbrella, a cap and about twice as much water as you think is reasonable! * The clapping echo works on the other sides of the pyramid! People gather on the main side as you enter the site, but if you go to the side to the right, it is also restored and looks great, but there aren't the crowds. We got some good videos there. * There are more areas to explore behind the temple. A bit through the woods (and more market!) there is an observatory and some more pyramids. They are much quieter. I travelled with my 10yo son who is pretty patient and really into history. I would be a bit wary of going with a child who is less into it, just because of the heat. But we had a great time. 4 stars just because of the crowds and the intensity of the market.Posted on Tripadvisor![]()

Chichén Itzá: A Must-See in Your Lifetime Chichén Itzá is very picturesque and large, and there’s much more to see than just the temple. However, it’s also very crowded, with a lot of tourists. The best time to visit is right when it opens, as it’s not too hot yet and there are fewer tourists. I can assure you that there will be a queue if you arrive two hours after it opens. In addition, there are a lot of aggressive salespeople who can be very pushy. Despite these downsides, this place is truly a must-see in your lifetime, especially if you're in the area!Posted on Tripadvisor![]()

Chichen Itza with Secretoo and Guillermo We visited Chichen Itza through Secretoo and with a French-speaking guide, Guillermo. The guide was very, very good. We were able to ask a lot of questions. He was very interesting in his explanations. Perfect!Posted on Tripadvisor![]()

Awesome ruins - but now one big market place for low quality goods. Well a spectacular place like this should always get 5 stars. Why only 4? For whatever reason, the owners have decided that it would be a great idea to cram this place with literally 100s of stalls, all selling the same sort of mass produced stuff. They are everywhere, and the badgering from the stall managers is constant, insessent and by the end of your tour incredibly irritating. This should be a revered place not a bustling market for tat - which is what it's become. Great shame as the ruins are pretty awesome.Posted on Tripadvisor![]()

but still one of the coolest archeological/historical sites Super touristy, hot, and always has a lot of people, but still one of the coolest archeological/historical sites so definitely still worth seeing at least once. If you can go early in the morning right when they open, do it because its slightly cooler and usually has the smallest crowd of people (within 30 minutes of arriving, the crowd sizes more than doubled when I was last here). The vendors are also really pushy and annoying but if you do want to buy something, make sure you do not take the first price they offer you and if you speak spanish, do it because they will hike up the prices a lotPosted on Tripadvisor![]()

One down on my bucket list - Thanks xpo tours. A MUST SEE place, since it's quite far from Cancun consider taking this Discovery tour which includes lunch, cenote and Valladolid as well. We were like one of the first at Chichen Itza and it was amazing, having almost the whole sight for us. We booked through the same people from XPO Cancun which picked us up at the airport. The bus even had a bathroom and was very comfortable, I would say even more than the flight, so the drive to Chichen Itza went pretty quickly and the guides on the bus were wonderful. We had a great cooling of at the Palmera Cenote where they also served us lunch, there was something for everybody, even our young ones. Thanks for the great day Richard.Posted on Tripadvisor![]()

Journeys into the heart of the Mayan civilization We went off-season and honestly it was very good. It is key to go early in the morning, much fewer people and less sun. Highly recommended

Każdy zabytek zastawiony straganem, zanim dojdziesz do miejsca zwiedzania mijasz tysiąc straganów i wręcz wciskają Ci rzeczy na siłę w ręce. Posted on Google![]()

Posted on Google![]()

Posted on Google![]()

There’s just nothing like it! Although there are very interesting ruins all over the region, this one is just something else! It’s a good walk from the parking lot to the pyramid, and there will be many vendors trying to sell things, but the experience is so worth it! If you don’t know the history of it please do some research beforehand so you understand just where you’ll be standing and the historical value of it!

Senso
